Jesus is the Promised Pastor of the First Coming in Shincheonji theology, the one who appeared in fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14), the Tree of Life at the First Coming, and the one who planted the spiritual seed of God’s word on the earth (Matthew 13:24–30). He is not considered God Himself, but rather the Son of God — a man chosen and sent by God, who received the Word and Spirit without limit (John 3:34) and carried out the work of salvation by fulfilling what was written.
Shincheonji teaches that Jesus’ appearance at the First Coming was the Advent of Heaven on Earth, as heaven came to dwell among mankind through Him (Revelation 21:3). He testified only what He saw and heard from heaven (John 3:31–32) and opened the path to life through His obedience, death, and resurrection.
However, the work of salvation was not complete at that time — it was the time of planting, not harvesting. According to Shincheonji, Jesus promised to return (John 14:3) and entrusted the work of judgment and fulfillment of Revelation to be completed at the time of His Second Coming. At that time, He would return in spirit, working through another Promised Pastor, to fulfill the entire book of Revelation physically and spiritually (Revelation 1:1–2, 10:11).
In this framework, Jesus is central not only for His role in atonement but also as the model and pattern for the one who overcomes in the end times (Revelation 2–3). He is the blueprint for the One Who Overcomes at the time of Revelation’s fulfillment — guiding, teaching, and dwelling spiritually within that individual, just as God dwelled in Jesus (John 14:10–11).
More to come.
