Glossary of Terms - D
All terms listed herein are defined according to their usage within the context of the SCJ Bible Study.
Daily Actions The laws or instructions within a covenant that people must keep every day.
Daily Bread (Figurative) Spiritual food, which is the word of God, specifically the prophecy and fulfillment of the New Testament. Bible Verses: Deuteronomy 8:3, Revelation 2:17. Referenced Lesson: 75.
Daniel A prophet who lived and worked in Babylon, remaining faithful to God. He had the gift of interpreting dreams through God’s words. He saw visions of the future, including events that would be fulfilled at the Second Coming. He was commanded to eat a scroll, symbolizing the receiving and testifying of God’s Word. Daniel 12:8-10, Ezekiel 2:1,8-10, Ezekiel 3:1-4. Referenced Lesson: 11.
Darkness (Figurative) Represents ignorance, a lack of understanding of God’s Word, or not having the Word of life. Those in darkness often persecute those in the light. It is often associated with Satan and false teachings. The earth was dark, formless, and empty at the beginning of recreation. God’s first action in recreation is to establish light to shine in the darkness. John 1:5, John 12:46, Ephesians 4:18, Isaiah 9:1-2, John 8:12. Referenced Lesson: 26.
David (King) An Old Testament king who prophesied about the coming of God’s Word.
Day/Night (Spiritual) “Day” represents a time when there is light (the opened word) and understanding is clear. “Night” represents a time of darkness (the sealed word), confusion, and ignorance, or a time of not fully understanding God’s Word. In the Holy City, New Jerusalem, there will be no more night because God and Jesus will shine the light of the word, and no one will be ignorant. John 9:4.
Deaf (Figurative) One who does not understand the word despite hearing it. Isaiah 43:8.
Death (Physical) The cessation of bodily life.
Death (Second) The spiritual death in hell, the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14.
Death (Spiritual) A state of not having the Word of life; spiritual death. This is distinct from physical death. The soul that sins is the soul that dies. It can also be the inability to carry out one’s appointed duty. Ezekiel 18:4, Matthew 8:21-22, John 6:63.
Death (Figurative) Spiritual death, which is the separation of the spirit from God, the source of eternal life. It can occur even while physically alive. Bible Verses: Ezekiel 18:4, Matthew 8:21-22. Referenced Lesson: 32.
Death Swallowed Up in Victory The ultimate triumph over death, resulting in eternal life for both spirit and flesh. 1 Corinthians 15:54.
Deceive Satan’s primary method of leading people astray by twisting God’s words and presenting falsehood as truth.
Deceitful (Heart) Human heart’s tendency to lie and lead one astray, emphasizing the need to rely on God’s Word. Jeremiah 17:9.
Demons Fallen angels who rebelled against God due to pride and greed. They are part of Satan’s army. Bible Verses: 2 Peter 2:4. Referenced Lesson: 4.
Descendants (Abraham’s) Initially physical Israelites, but later expanded to include all believers in Jesus (spiritual descendants).
14. Desert (Spiritual) A figurative place of challenges and trials, representing a spiritual state where people can die if they don’t focus on God’s promise. It is a place without water (word), and a place of temptation. Jesus was tempted in the desert. Matthew 4.
Destruction One of the three main events of Revelation, following betrayal. It means stripping a people of their identity and forcing them to adopt Satan’s ways, not necessarily physical death. The act of assimilation where Satan corrupts and takes control of those who once belonged to God. It is one of the three main events of Revelation (betrayal, destruction, salvation), describing a period when destroyers invade and corrupt God’s people. This era occurs during the 42 months (3.5 years) of the beast’s authority. Bible Verses: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3. Referenced Lesson: 98, 103.
Destroyers Those who invade the tabernacle and destroy its occupants. They are Satan’s organization, specifically the Stewardship Education Center (SEC) or Christian Stewardship Training Center (CSTC), and its associated leaders like Mr. Tak and Mr. Oh. They force people to eat food sacrificed to idols, commit spiritual sexual immorality, or drink maddening wine. They are also called locusts in Revelation. In Revelation, they are described as a “beast with seven heads and ten horns.” Revelation 9, Revelation 13, Revelation 16.
Deuteronomy A book of the Old Testament containing God’s laws and instructions.
Devil’s Food Spiritually, it refers to the wine of adulteries, which are lies, commentaries, thoughts, and rules created by man. It is spiritual junk food with no nutritional label, contrasted with God’s food (the hidden manna, open scroll).
Discernment The ability to distinguish truth from lies, and to identify where God and Satan are working. The crucial ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, good from evil, and God’s work from Satan’s work. It requires testing teachings and spirits against Scripture. It means not relying on human interpretation, reasoning, or feelings, as the heart can be deceitful. 1 John 4:1, Acts 17:11, Job 34:3-4, Jeremiah 17:9, Proverbs 3:5-7. Referenced Lesson: 3, 5.
Disciples (Jesus’) Those who humbly received Jesus’s teachings, understood the fulfillment of prophecy, and were blessed with spiritual insight. They became the “branches” connected to Jesus (the vine) and were tasked with spreading the Word and making more spiritual children. They were chosen by Jesus to spread the gospel. Matthew 13:16-17, John 15:5, John 1:11-13, Luke 24:44, Matthew 19:27-29.
Distress (Great) A period of intense suffering and tribulation, often linked to the beast’s invasion and spiritual destruction. It is identified as the COVID-19 pandemic. Matthew 24:21.
Division The fracturing of unity due to rebellion against God’s truth, leading to multiple denominations and differing interpretations.
Doctrines Teachings or beliefs, which can be true (God’s Word) or false (lies). Figuratively represented as languages or cargo.
Door (Shut) Represents a point of no return for those who are not prepared for the wedding banquet. Matthew 25:10.
Dragon (Figurative) Represents the spirit of Satan. He is the “ancient serpent” from Genesis who leads the whole world astray. He is captured and bound in the abyss. Revelation 12:9, Revelation 20:2. Referenced Lesson: 118.
Dreams (Figurative) God’s method of revealing plans to prophets, often sealed in parables, figurative language. Hosea 12:10. Satan also uses false dreams to deceive. Bible Verses: Jeremiah 23:25-28. Referenced Lesson: 98.
Dross Figurative term for spiritual waste or impurities, representing worthless doctrines or actions. Isaiah 1:22.
Dry Ground (Figurative) Represents people who need a spiritual foundation to uphold the kingdom.
Dry Land (Figurative) A place lacking spiritual water (the Word).
Drunkenness (Figurative) Being intoxicated with false teachings (“maddening wine of adulteries”) to the point of spiritual confusion. Revelation 18:3.
Dwelling Place (God’s) Spiritually, refers to Heaven, and during a specific time, the Tabernacle Temple (TT) in Gwacheon, South Korea. Slandering God’s dwelling place means slandering the Tabernacle Temple.
