Glossary of Terms - H

All terms listed herein are defined according to their usage within the context of the SCJ Bible Study.

Habakkuk An Old Testament prophet whose book contains prophecies. Habakkuk 1:14-17.

Hades See Death.

Hagar Represents the covenant from Mount Sinai, bearing children who are slaves (born in the ordinary way).

Hailstone (Figurative) Represents both the word of wrath and a person who carries the word of wrath (New John). Referenced Lesson: 124.

Harvest The end of the age or the second coming, when angels separate true believers (wheat) from false ones (weeds). It is a process of harvesting those born of God’s seed from the field into the barn. The First Harvest refers to those born of God’s seed being harvested and brought to the barn. The Second Harvest refers to Grapes (people) being trampled in God’s winepress (word of judgment). Bible Verses: Matthew 13:30, Matthew 13:39, Revelation 14:14-16. Referenced Lesson: 1, 19, 76.

Harvesting (Figurative) The process of separating true believers from false ones, carried out by angels working through people. It involves the sowing of two kinds of seed (of man and of animals). The angels are the harvesters, working with human flesh, who need people to speak first. Matthew 13:37-39.

Heart (Deceitful) Human heart’s tendency to lie and lead one astray, emphasizing the need to rely on God’s Word. Jeremiah 17:9.

Heart (Humble) A receptive state of mind that allows one to receive and understand God’s Word. It is a prerequisite for understanding the Word of God and receiving true insight. Humbly accepting the Word can bring salvation.

Heart (Place of Law) God’s desire to write His laws directly into the minds and hearts of His people in the New Covenant. Hebrews 8:10.

Heaven (Figurative) Represents the tabernacle of the chosen people or spirits in the spiritual world  or simply wherever God is. There are three types: Heaven in the spiritual world (Holy City, New Jerusalem), the first heaven and first earth (Tabernacle of the chosen people that betrayed), and the new heaven and new earth (Mount Zion). A person can become heaven when God dwells with them. In Revelation 21, there are three heavens: the first heaven, the new heaven, and the Holy City, New Jerusalem (which is heaven in the spiritual world). Spiritually, it is the location of the sun, moon, and stars. It can represent spirits in the spiritual world, or the tabernacle/church of God’s chosen people on Earth. God’s ultimate desire is for heaven to come down and unite with the physical world. Revelation 21:1-4, Exodus 25:8-9, Hebrews 8:5, Matthew 6:9, Revelation 4:1-8, Revelation 21:10, Isaiah 1:2, 10, Isaiah 55:8-9, John 1:51. Referenced Lesson: 57, 61.

Heaven (New) Represents the new spiritual tabernacle or church of God’s chosen people at the Second Coming. It is the new spiritual realm and people that appear at the Second Coming, replacing the old. Revelation 21:1.

Heaven in the Physical World A place built on earth that reflects what is above in the spiritual world, according to God’s pattern. Examples include Moses’ Tabernacle, Jesus and his 12 disciples. Referenced Lesson: 68.

Heaven in the Spiritual World God’s dwelling place where He, Jesus, angels, 24 elders, and seven spirits reside. It operates like a government with a hierarchy. God’s dwelling place, where He has been since Adam’s fall. It is God’s orderly dwelling place. Revelation 4. Referenced Lesson: 105.

Heavenly Culture The culture and way of life in God’s kingdom, which believers learn to live properly. It is taught during new family education. HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) aims to spread this globally. Ephesians 4:22-26.

Healing of the Nations A future work performed by those in God’s Kingdom, using the leaves of the tree of life (evangelists and the Word). Ezekiel 47:12, Revelation 22:2.

Hearsay Unverified information or rumors, particularly concerning spiritual matters, that can lead people astray.

Heresy The false group or lies. It starts in one place (spiritual world) but ends up in a different place. Its origin is Satan’s rebellion in the spiritual world. Referenced Lesson: 65, 66.

High Priest A mediator between God and man. Jesus is our high priest in the New Covenant.

Hidden Manna The revealed or open word, a type of spiritual food given at the proper time. Spiritual food from Jesus given to the one who overcomes, representing the revealed prophecy and fulfillment of the New Testament. It refers to the opened or newly revealed Word, specifically the explanations of Revelation. Revelation 2:17, John 6:48-55. Referenced Lesson: 102, 18.

Hinder An action of false pastors to obstruct the truth and God’s work.

Holy One of Israel Jesus. Bible Verses: Isaiah 1:4. Referenced Lesson: 70.

Holy City, New Jerusalem The spiritual city prepared by Jesus in Heaven for sheep-like believers, which will descend to the new heaven and new earth at the Second Coming. It is described with a great, high wall, twelve gates (representing the 12 tribes), and twelve foundations (representing the 12 apostles). In this city, there will be no more need for sun or moon (pastors/evangelists) or night (ignorance of the word), as God and Jesus will be its light. Nothing impure will enter it. Revelation 21:1-4, Revelation 21:9-27, Revelation 21:10-14. Referenced Lesson: 68, 75.

Holy Nation God’s chosen people, set apart to serve Him and reclaim the world. Exodus 19:5-6.

Holy Place The outer room of Moses’ tabernacle where priests ministered. Figuratively, represents John the Baptist at the first coming. Figurative term for a spiritual tabernacle or dwelling place where God works. In the Second Coming, it refers to a holy place with a lampstand that will be destroyed due to rebellion. Matthew 24:15-16, Hebrews 9:1-9. Referenced Lesson: 28.

Holy Spirit All spirits that belong to God are holy spirits. It gives life and is inseparable from the Word of God. It empowers prophets to speak God’s messages and guides believers to understand truth. John 6:63, 2 Peter 1:20-21, John 4:24.

Holy Spirit (The spirit of truth) A counselor or advocate sent by Jesus, who speaks on behalf of God and Jesus. It is one with the Word. Bible Verses: John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:10-13. Referenced Lesson: 8, 80.

Hope A firm expectation of God’s promises being fulfilled.

Horns (Figurative) Represent authority figures. The 7 horns of the Lamb are good authority figures assisting Him. Revelation 5:6.

Horse (Figurative) Represents a person, particularly one who is obedient to God and guided by a “rider” (pastor or spirit). It represents flesh.

Hosea An Old Testament prophet whose book contains prophecies about Israel’s unfaithfulness and God’s desire for a new covenant.

House (Old/New) Destroying the old house and making a new house is part of being born again.

Humbly Accept (the Word) Getting rid of moral filth and accepting the word planted in you, which can save you. Involves admitting when one is wrong and accepting what is true. Bible Verses: James 1:21. Referenced Lesson: 100.

Hunger and Thirst (Spiritual) A deep desire for righteousness and God’s Word. Matthew 5:6.

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) God’s organization working for peace globally, created as an NGO working with UNECOSOC. Its goal is to create a legal tool for peace worldwide. It conducts dialogues where representatives from various religions examine common teachings in their scriptures. Ephesians 4:22-26, Revelation 22:1-2, John 1:1-4.

Hypocrites Those who profess faith but whose hearts are far from God, often engaging in religious acts for outward appearance. Matthew 23:27-28, Luke 11:44.
