Glossary of Terms - U V W Y Z

All terms listed herein are defined according to their usage within the context of the SCJ Bible Study.

U

Understanding The ability to comprehend spiritual truths and God’s Word, which is a gift from God. It precedes faith and action.

Unrolled Scroll The state of prophecy when its true meaning is revealed, and it can be physically unrolled and read.

Unwavering Faith Abraham’s steadfast belief in God’s promises, even when faced with seemingly impossible circumstances.

V

Vessels (Noble/Ignoble) People who cleanse themselves from impurities to be used for noble purposes by God, or those who remain corrupt. Noble vessels are made of gold and silver, cleansed by the word, and useful to the Master. 2 Timothy 2:20-21.

Victory (Figurative) Triumph over Satan and his forces through the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony.

Vineyard (Figurative) Represents the house of Israel or God’s people. Isaiah 5:1-7.

Virgins (Wise and Foolish) A parable about believers awaiting Jesus’s return, distinguished by their preparedness (having sufficient “oil”). Five were wise and had sufficient oil (word of testimony); five were foolish and ran out of oil. This parable is for the Second Coming. Matthew 25:1-13.

Visions God’s method of revealing His plan to prophets, often sealed in parables. Actions in a vision don’t necessarily happen in real life (e.g., Apostle John’s visions). Bible Verses: Amos 3:7. Referenced Lesson: 98.

Vision Revelation Prophetic insights received by prophets in a figurative form. Apostle John received Revelation through a vision. Moses received the events of Genesis in a vision.

Volunteering Developing a heart for selfless service. It is one of the seven essential principles believers must maintain (SEEVMO).

Vultures (Figurative) Evil spirits that gather around spiritually dead “carcasses.” Matthew 24:28.

W

Walking Bible Someone who is knowledgeable about the Old Testament, the New Testament, and understands Revelation. This is achieved by mastering Revelation and making effort to keep the book covenant and become sealed.

War (Spiritual) A conflict between God and Satan, which has been waging for 6,000 years since Adam’s fall. It takes place in both spiritual and physical realms. God’s weapon is the word of testimony. Satan’s weapon is lies and persecution. There are three wars in Revelation: 1. First War (Revelation 13): Seven stars vs. the beast with seven heads and ten horns (beast wins). 2. Second War (Revelation 12): Male child and his brothers vs. the beast with seven heads and ten horns (male child and brothers win). 3. Third War (Revelation 16): God’s kingdom vs. Satan’s kingdom. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:10-17, Revelation 12:11. Referenced Lesson: 6, 99.

War between Jerusalem and Babylon (Figurative) Represents the conflict between the denomination of God’s chosen people (Jerusalem) and the denomination of the gentiles, influenced by demons (Babylon). This war is fought not with physical weapons but with words of doctrine. Matthew 24:7, Luke 21:10.

Wash Day The practice of washing oneself in the word every 3rd and 7th day of the week (Sundays and Wednesdays) according to Jesus’ words.

Washing (Figurative) The cleansing of one’s heart, actions, and doctrines through the Word of God. John 15:3.

Water (Figurative) Represents the Word of God that gives life (the Word of Life). Like physical water, God’s word cleanses us and is essential for life. It nourishes us spiritually like rain. There is God’s water (life-giving) and Satan’s water (false teachings that dilute truth). A famine of water refers to a famine of hearing God’s Word. Being “born again of water” means a person’s spirit being cleansed by the Word. Deuteronomy 32:2, John 3:3-5, John 4:7-14, John 15:3, Revelation 22:17, Revelation 22:2, Revelation 22:14, Amos 8:11-12, Isaiah 1:22. Referenced Lesson: 33, 34.

Water of Life God’s true word that cleanses and gives life. John 4:7-14, Revelation 22:17, Revelation 22:2, Revelation 22:14.

Wedding Banquet of the Lamb The marriage between Jesus (groom) and the faithful (representative bride, New John, and the 12 tribes/144,000/great multitude). It takes place at Mount Zion. Requirements include being born of God’s seed, sealed, part of one of the 12 tribes, having one’s name in the Book of Life. Qualification to enter requires “wedding clothes” (righteous actions), a “lamp” (the Word), and “oil” (Word of testimony). The spiritual food consumed at this banquet are words, and the birds are martyrs enjoying the meal. Matthew 22:1-14, Revelation 19:6-9, Revelation 14:1, Matthew 25:1-13, Revelation 19:9. Wedding Clothes Represent righteous actions and doctrines, which are washed in the blood of the Lamb, necessary for attending the wedding banquet. They are granted from above when one’s heart is cleansed, and their actions and doctrines are purified. Matthew 22:11-14, Revelation 19:8, Revelation 7:14.

Weeds (Figurative) In the Parable of the Weeds, they represent “people of the evil one” (evildoers) sown by the enemy (the devil) in the same “field” (world/church) as the “wheat” (people of God’s kingdom). They are characterized by not containing good seeds and tending to take over. At harvest, they are burned. They represent falsehood. Matthew 13:25-30, Matthew 13:38, Matthew 13:39. Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth A consequence for those who are cast out of the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 8:12, Matthew 13:42, Matthew 13:50, Matthew 22:13, Matthew 24:51, Matthew 25:30, Luke 13:28.

Wheat (Figurative) Represents the people of God’s kingdom, born of His seed, who are gathered into the barn at harvest. They are humble and have deep roots. At harvest, they are gathered into the barn (Heaven/Mount Zion). Matthew 13:24-30, Matthew 13:38. Referenced Lesson: 1.

White Horse (Figurative) In Revelation 6:1-2, its rider is Jesus. The horse itself represents New John (flesh) whom Jesus (the spirit) uses. Bible Verses: Revelation 19:11-13, Isaiah 31:3, Revelation 6:1-2. Referenced Lesson: 107.

White Robe Represents the righteous acts of the saints. It is given to martyrs. Bible Verses: Revelation 6:11, Revelation 19:8. Referenced Lesson: 108.

White Stone Represents authority to judge with the word. It has a new name (likely New John’s title) written on it, known only to the recipient. Bible Verses: Revelation 2:17. Referenced Lesson: 102.

Whole World (spiritual meaning) Refers to all the saints and members of the Tabernacle Temple congregation who unknowingly worshiped the beast. It cannot be interpreted literally, as it refers to a spiritual context.

Widow (Figurative) Refers to a congregation that has become fatherless because the spirit of God has left that place and the truth is no longer being spoken there. A widow represents a pastor who was once “married” to God but has betrayed Him. Matthew 25:31-46. Referenced Lesson: 78.

Wild Vine The opposite of the “true vine,” representing Satan’s corrupt teachings and those who follow them. It is Satan’s tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Isaiah 5, Jeremiah 2:21.

Winds (Figurative) Symbolize angels and the judgment they bring. When winds are blowing, judgment is taking place; when they are stopped, judgment is paused. They can be gentle or powerful storms. They will blow once more, leading to a great tribulation. They are stopped for a time for sealing. Hebrews 1:7, Jeremiah 4:11-13, Revelation 6:12-14, Revelation 7:1-4.

Wine (Figurative) Represents the Word of God. It is produced from grapes grown on vines (pastors/chosen people) in a vineyard (church/Israel). There is “old wine” (Old Testament gospel), “new wine” (newly revealed Word), and “maddening wine” (Satan’s lies). Revelation 6:5-6, Isaiah 55:1-3, Luke 5:36-39, John 1:17, Matthew 26:29, Deuteronomy 32:31-33, Jeremiah 51:7, Revelation 17:1-5, Revelation 18:2-3. Referenced Lesson: 107.

Wine of Adultery/Maddening Wine See Maddening Wine.

Winepress (God’s Wrath) Represents the word that judges. A figurative representation of God’s judgment upon those who are not His. Revelation 14:19-20, Revelation 19:15. Bible Verses: Revelation 14:19-20. Referenced Lesson: 120.

Wineskins (Figurative) Containers for wine, specifically represent the promised shepherd and his disciples who receive the new word. They refer to hearts (and the promised shepherd and his disciples) that are able to receive and contain the “new wine” (newly revealed Word) without bursting. Luke 5:36-39, Philippians 3:4-7.

Wisdom A gift from God that allows understanding of mysteries. It enables discernment and leads to true faith. Bible Verses: 1 Corinthians 2:6-8, Proverbs 3:5-7. Referenced Lesson: 9.

Wise (Spiritual) Those who have a humble and open heart, enabling them to understand and discern God’s Word.

Wise/Foolish Virgins See Virgins (Wise and Foolish).

Witness Someone who has seen and heard something. They are able to give a testimony. John 3:31-33, John 5:36, Revelation 12:11.

Witness (Two) Figurative representation of specific individuals in Revelation who testify to the fulfillment of prophecy. Mr. Hong is identified as one of the two witnesses. Revelation 11:3-12.

Woe A curse or pronouncement of judgment. Revelation 8:13, Revelation 9:12, Revelation 11:14.

Woman (Figurative) Can represent a pastor or an organization that gives birth to spiritual children.

Woman (Clothed in Sun, Moon, and Stars) A figurative representation of a significant figure or group among God’s chosen people in Revelation. Represents the Tabernacle Temple. She gives birth to the male child. Revelation 12:1-2.

Word (The) God’s ultimate authority and means of communication, which is living, active, and capable of creating and giving life. It is equated with God and Jesus. It is God’s breath. It is spirit and life. It is the foundational concept that describes God Himself, Jesus, the Bible/Scripture, the Seed, the Light, the Lamp, the Spirit, Testimony, and the Law and Commandments. It is alive, active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and judges thoughts and attitudes. It is flawless. Knowing God through Scripture keeps people connected to God. John 1:1-5, John 6:63, Psalms 119:105, Hebrews 4:12, Deuteronomy 32:2. Learn More: Word.

Word of God (Eaten) Symbolically receiving, understanding, and internalizing God’s Word. Ezekiel 3:1-4, Revelation 10:9-10.

Word of God / The Word The imperishable seed from which one is born again. It is light and life, God’s breath. It is also God Himself and Jesus Himself. It is a lamp for our feet and a light on our path. It is also God’s armor and a double-edged sword. Bible Verses: 1 Peter 1:23, Luke 8:11, John 1:1-5, Psalms 119:105, Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12. Word of Testimony The weapon with which the spiritual war can be won. It is the blood of the Lamb and the word itself, obtained through seeing and hearing. It enables one to expose Satan. Referenced Lesson: 97, 87.

World (Figurative) The field where good and evil seeds are sown. It is under the evil one’s control. Can refer to the sea where Satan rules, or the field of believers. It is a world that Satan corrupted, leading to increased sin and wickedness. It can refer to the physical earth, or figuratively, to Satan’s domain and the people who are influenced by him. 1 John 5:19, Luke 4:5-7, Matthew 13:38. Referenced Lesson: 1, 6.

Wormwood (Star) A figurative representation of a poisonous spiritual influence or false teaching that contaminates God’s “waters” (Word). Identified as Mr. Oh/Nicholas. Revelation 8:10-11, Revelation 9:1-2. Referenced Lesson: 115.

Worship (True) Worshipping God in spirit and truth, with a heart aligned with His will, not merely with outward rituals or lip service. John 4:23-24.

Y

Yeast (Figurative) Represents teachings or instructions that cause change. Types are God’s yeast (new teachings, open word) and Satan’s yeast (hypocrisy, false teachings). Bible Verses: Matthew 13:33, Matthew 16:6-12. Referenced Lesson: 19.

Z

Zeal Enthusiasm or passion, which if not based on knowledge, can lead people astray.

Zealots A Jewish political movement during Jesus’s time, known for their fierce opposition to Roman rule.

Zechariah An Old Testament prophet whose book contains visions and prophecies, including about a ruler coming from Bethlehem and two olive trees.
